What is the absolute best way to make passive income with affiliate marketing?
Affiliate marketing is one of my favorite income streams because it takes little to no work to maintain.
I don’t have to create or deliver anything…
I just receive commission checks.
That being said, it’s not as easy as most people think.
If you don’t know, affiliate marketing is when you promote someone else’s product and anything someone clicks through your link and buys, you get paid.
You can promote physical products on Amazon and Walmart, or digital products on sites like Clickbank.
Pretty much every company out there has an affiliate program these days.
Nike, Dicks Sporting Goods, etc…
All you have to do is get your unique affiliate link and send people to the product.
What product you promote is completely up to you but in this post, I’m gonna show you the best way to get started.
If you wanna be successful online you need to start using affiliate marketing…
Doesn’t matter what business you’re in, it’s a great way to add an additional stream of income.
You can’t create everything yourself so if there’s something that might benefit your audience and you can get a commission for sharing it, why wouldn’t you?
Maybe there are some products you use yourself and decide to share that with other people. It’s a win-win because they’ll benefit from the product and you’ll get paid.
So what’s the best way to get started?
Most people get started by promoting products that are super competitive.
That’s why most don’t make any money.
Products on sites like Clickbank and Jvzoo are where a lot of professionals go to pick their products.
That means you’ll have to compete with them and that’s probably not gonna work as a beginner.
That’s why I’d recommend starting with the lower hanging fruit while you’re building up your skills.
Yeah, you’ll get lower commissions but at least you’ll get the ball rolling.
Here’s what type of products you should promote as a beginner:
- Products people are ALREADY looking for (reviews, comparisons, etc).
- Products people NEED to achieve something (web hosting, back pain, etc).
It’s really hard getting someone to buy something they don’t know they need and that’s why a lot of products on sites like Clickbank are hard to promote.
Find what people are already looking for and provide more information about the product.
Here are the steps to get started…
Step #1 is to pick your niche.
I’d recommend something you’re interested in or know something about.
It could be headphones, hiking gear, fishing, etc…
Make sure the people in that niche buy a lot of things on Amazon.
Stick to 1 niche when you’re first starting.
Step #2 would be to find products people are already looking for.
Write down a big list of products people in your niche are already looking for or things they need to get a result.
People are searching for reviews and comparisons for products they’re looking to buy.
Be the video they see when they type in “product name” review into Google and YouTube.
There’s no need to convince them to buy because they’re already interested and all you have to do is give them more info.
- Review all the products.
- Compare different models.
- Tell people what your favorite is.
There are also products that people need…
- If they want to start a website they’ll need web hosting.
- If they have back pain they need a cure.
- If they can’t sleep, tell them about something that can help.
See how it’s way easier to promote something like this compared to a course or ebook about something?
Step #3 is to create the content.
You should create an article (for your blog) and video (for YouTube).
I have tutorials on setting up your blog in the description.
But you’ll wanna take advantage of the 2 biggest search engines, Google and YouTube.
The article is pretty straightforward but for the video you can record yourself talking about the product, you can record the product without your face in it, or you can do powerpoint slides…
The only thing that really matters is the content and info.
Phase #1 would be reviewing all the products your audience is interested in (product xyz review).
Phase #2 would be doing how-to videos for something they need (how to fix your back pain).
Step #4 is to build a brand in that niche.
You want to establish yourself as the authority in the niche you pick.
The first reason is you’ll make more sales.
People buy from someone they like, know, and trust. When you provide useful content people will see you as the person to go to for info.
The second reason is you can add additional income streams later on.
If you’re able to build up an audience and brand you’ll be able to expand your business and bring in multiple streams of income.
You can start with affiliate marketing but you could also come out with your own products and services, companies will give you free stuff, or they’ll pay you to endorse their products.
Start looking at the big picture.
There’s so much more you can do besides affiliate marketing. It should only be 1 source of income for your biz.
