Looking to get out of the rat race?

If you’ve read the book Rich Dad Poor Dad by Robert Kiyosaki you’d know all about being stuck in the “Rat Race” and the way to get out is by creating passive income streams. In the book, Roberts talks about people being stuck in the never ending financial cycle of working a 9-5, owning a home and living paycheck to paycheck.

Once you get in the rat race it’s SUPER hard to get out because most people just focus on working harder, working longer and trying to make more money. That’s NOT the solution. The reason is that when you work more you earn more BUT you’ll also pay more tax and MOST people end up spending more.

 How do you get out?

Obviously, the best way is to start young, educate yourself and NEVER get in it in the first place. But the good news is that it IS possible to escape.

How To Escape The Rat Race

Before we get into escaping the rat race we need to know why people get into it in the first place. Here’s the cashflow quadrant Robert talks about in the book:

95% of the population is on the left side of the quadrant. If you want to escape the rat race and become wealthy you need to get to the right side. You need to become a business owner (NOT self-employed) or investor. Having a job or creating yourself a job is NOT the solution. If you’re on the left side, the money will stop when you stop working. On the right side, the money will continue whether you work or not.

A business owner is someone who OWNS a business but doesn’t necessarily work IN the business. This is done by hiring people or leveraging a system. An example of a business owner would be having an internet business and outsourcing most of the day to day stuff. An example of a system would be recommending MCA to people who want to start a business or Online Sales Pro for people who want to grow their business.

Another thing that determines whether or not you’ll end up in the rat race is the way you manage money. Here’s what the rich do vs the poor and middle class:

The cash flow process of the poor and middle class (left):

  1. Income is earned through a job (salary).
  2. Salary is used to buy liabilities (house, car, eating out).
  3. Liabilities become expenses.
  4. Income is left over.

The cash flow process of the rich (right):

  1. Rich people buy assets (rental property, stocks, businesses).
  2. Assets provide passive income that covers expenses.
  3. Income is earned through assets.
  4. Use that income to buy more assets.

An easy way to look at assets and liabilities is: “Assets put money into your pocket and liabilities take money out.” Rich buy assets…poor buy liabilities.

You need to learn how to leverage your time and stop trading your time for money. Learn how to make your money work for you. The best way for 95% of people is to be a business owner.

A business owner is someone who has a system that provides recurring passive income each month on autopilot. The money will come in whether or not you’re working. There’s a lot of ways to become a business owner but the easiest way (in my opinion) is leveraging the internet.

It’s insane how many millionaires the internet has created over the past 10 years. It’s not going anywhere anytime soon and if you learn how to use it you can become insanely wealthy.

  • I create content (videos and articles) about entrepreneurship and publish them on the internet. The content is created ONCE, teaches people how to do something and will be there forever.
  • People will read and watch my content, they’ll learn about my products, services, and books (which I created ONCE) and some of them will become customers.

More content equals more visitors equals more money. If I go on vacation for 2 months my content will still be out there making sales. That’s the power of the internet. The entire goal is to create enough passive income to cover expenses. When that happens you have freedom.

How To Get Started?

If you have a job, what you need to do is start a side hustle to create some passive income. From 6pm-12am and weekends, you need to be working on your business. If you put in the time and effort you’ll eventually get to the point of being financially free.

It’ll be challenging but don’t you think it’d be worth it? It’s completely up to you…if you’re satisfied where you’re at that’s cool but if not, DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT!

I’ve seen regular everyday people escape the race, so I know it’s possible. I’ve seen people make a 4-figure monthly passive income within 4 months. I’ve seen people quit their job because their business is making more income. A great place to start making passive income online is MCA.

The 4 Hour Work Week Book Review

In this post, I’m going to do the 4 hour work week book review and what I thought about the book. The 4 hour work week is a book by Tim Ferriss and basically goes over how to create your dream lifestyle, quit the 9-5 grind, and like the title says…work 4 hours a week.

The whole concept seems kinda cool. I mean, being able to work 4 hours per week while money comes pouring into your bank account while you’re sitting at the beach. Sign me up right?

Who wouldn’t want that kind of lifestyle…

Here are the main topics Tim covers in the book:


– How to outsource your life to overseas virtual assistants for $5 per hour and do whatever you want?
– How blue-chip escape artists travel the world without quitting their jobs?
– How to eliminate 50% of your work in 48 hours using the principles of a forgotten Italian economist?

But here’s the thing…is it really possible to live the 4 hour work week?

Even though this is one of my all-time favorite books, living the 4 hour work week is a complete fantasy, and I’m gonna tell you why this won’t work for you.

I’m sure some people will disagree with me, but I couldn’t really care less what they think. I’m here to tell things from my perspective, so take it or leave it.

Again, this book is one of my all time favorite books…BUT it’s not because of the 4 hour part.

The 4 Hour Work Week Book Review: Why I Liked The Book

The 4 hour work week was the second business book I read and it’s what really got me interested in having an online business and wanting to become a lifestyle entrepreneur. I liked the idea of having a business where I could travel the world, quit the 9-5 grind, and have automated cash flow…but the 4-hour thing seemed kinda far fetched.

But even though it seemed like it was too good to be true, the real value I got from this book was sparking the entrepreneurial interest and getting started online. Before this book, I’d always thought I’d have my own business, but the plan was to always have some sort of brick and mortar or startup business. Looking back it was a good thing because that’s not what I wanted whatsoever.

I liked the idea of outsourcing certain tasks of my business overseas so I could have more time doing income producing activities in my business. Pretty much, I thought every part of this book was awesome EXCEPT the fact that you could do this while working only 4 hours per week…especially at the start.

The 4 Hour Work Week Book Review: Why It’s A Complete Fantasy

So why do I think the 4 hour work week concept is a complete fantasy?

The first thing I’ll say is that it’s not completely impossible to live the 4 hour work week. There are 2 situations when it’s possible. It’s definitely possible to work only 4 hours every week on your business (it’s even possible to work 2 hours…) but I can almost guarantee that for 99% of people out there, they won’t get the results they’re looking for. The second situation is for someone who’s been hustling hard for years and can finally sit back and see the benefits of their hard work.

But the big takeaway here is that when you’re starting out you’re going to need to hustle hard to learn all the in’s and out’s of your business, to create content, build your brand, and create relationships.

It’s crazy how many people out there think that this concept is a reality and they’ll join, throw a bit of money into paid ads, sit on the beach sippin’ pina colada’s, and collecting paycheques…

And even though I’ve talked about working a couple hours per week on my business before, that’s only because I put in hundreds of hours before learning and mastering the process. But I wanted bigger and better things and I wanted to expand my business, so that’s why I’m putting in a lot more than 4 hours each week.

I guess what I’m saying is that you can work 4 hours per week on your business, but if you’re just starting out you’ll get crushed by the guy working 40 hours per week. It’s all about momentum…the more you can create quickly, the more benefits you’ll see later.

The funny thing is that Tim Ferriss actually spends a lot more than 4 hours per week on his business. Think about this…the more time he spends doing his podcast, doing interviews, and appearing on TV the more copies he’ll sell. In my opinion, the 4 hour work week is just something to make you start thinking outside the box and showing you that you don’t need to join the 9-5 grind.

Going back to why it’s a myth to live the 4 hour work week…for the majority of people who work only 4 hours on their business, over time their income will either plateau or start falling. In most cases, they’ll get too comfortable with the lifestyle and start neglecting their business. I know from experience because it happened to me while I was making 5-6k per month. I got too comfortable and wasn’t growing my business like I should have.

Do Something You’re Passionate About

The way I look at things now is that you need to find something you enjoy doing. If you enjoy doing something why would you spend only 4 hours a week doing it…

Find something you enjoy doing so much that it doesn’t even feel like work. That’s where I’m at right now. I don’t feel like what I’m doing is work. I could spend 8-10 hours per day doing this and not get tired. And once you find something you’re passionate about, you’ll start seeing the results you’re after once you start putting in the time and effort.

If you’re trying to live the 4 hour work week lifestyle, you’ll have to be willing to put in 40+ hours each week for years BEFORE you should expect that kinda lifestyle.

This is what a lot of people don’t realize with the whole thing. It’s not gonna be easy. You need to hustle and grind if you expect to see results. But if you’re willing to do that it’s definitely worth it.

The 4 Hour Work Week Book Review: What To Do Now

What I want you to realize from this post is that hard work should never be overlooked. You may have some decent results working only a few hours but I can guarantee that it won’t be sustainable long term.

You need to start focusing long term and building a sustainable business. The more effort you put in the more you’ll get out. So many people preach the laptop lifestyle, sitting on the beach, etc…but the one thing they don’t talk about is the work and hustle it takes to get there.

People always talk about if you have a positive mindset, set goals, and results will come. That is complete BS. If you don’t put in the grind it’s not going to matter how positive you think…you won’t succeed.

Thinking positive does help a lot, but thinking positive doesn’t produce results. Hard work does.

So if you’re one of those people who want the 4-hour lifestyle without doing the work part, don’t even bother getting started because you’ll waste your time and money.

But if you’re willing to put in the work at the start, learn everything you can, develop your mindset, and take action, you will never look back…

Today’s book of the day is one of my all time favourite books by Dale Carnegie. I’m going to go over How to Win Friends and Influence People key points. It talks about ways to really influence people, get more out of your team, and more importantly, how to be a good person.

Dale says “You can make someone want to do what you want them to do by seeing the situation from the other person’s point of view”. This is going to be beneficial because you will learn how to make people like you, and how you can win people to your way of thinking.

Even though this isn’t a typical business book that teaches certain skills, it will teach you MUST HAVE skills if you want to succeed in business. You need to be able to move and influence people, and this book will show you how. I can guarantee that almost all millionaires and billionaires have read this book, so you probably should too. Let’s get started…

How To Win Friends And Influence People Key Points

Key Point #1: Gives honest, sincere appreciation and make people feel important to get the most out of them.

Key Point #2: Talk in terms of what others want instead of your own thoughts.

Key Point #3: Look at others point of view and see things from their angle. Talk about what they want and how they can get it. Talk about how you can benefit them instead of what you want.

Key Point #4: We become interested in others when they’re interested in us.

Key Point #5: Don’t criticize. It puts people on the defence and they try to justify.

Key Point #6: Smile.

Key Point #7: Remember names.

Key Point #8: Be a good listener.

My Take: My biggest takeaway from these 8 key points is that in order to be successful and be able to influence people we have to stop thinking about what we want and start focusing on how we can help others. When you focus on serving first, people will start trusting you and you will start having an influence in their life.

If you’re selling something to someone and they don’t know who you are they won’t buy because they don’t know you. The only way they will buy is if you start building a relationship, and this is done by showing them that you actually want to help and benefit them.

12 Ways To Win People To Your Way Of Thinking

  1. Avoid arguments.
  2. Show respect towards them.
  3. Admit when you’re wrong.
  4. Begin in friendly way.
  5. Get them saying yes, yes right away by asking 2 questions.
  6. Let them talk.
  7. Make them feel like the idea is yours.
  8. See things from their point of view.
  9. Be sympathetic.
  10. Appeal to nobler motives.
  11. Dramatize ideas.
  12. Challenge them.

My Take: My biggest takeaway from these 12 ways is that you need to see things from the other persons point of view and not your own. Don’t talk about what YOU want or what YOU think because nobody cares. You need to look at how they will benefit from the situation and make them feel important.

7 Ways To Change People

  1. Start with praise.
  2. Indirectly mention their mistakes.
  3. Ask questions over direct orders.
  4. Praise improvement.
  5. Give them a good reputation to live up to by praising them to others.
  6. Encourage.
  7. Make them happy about doing the order.

These were the main points and takeaways I got from reading this book. I know this isn’t your general business book but it’s about people, and people are super important in your business. You need to learn how to influence people and persuade them to buy whatever you’re selling. I learned a lot from this book and definitely recommend you check it out if you haven’t yet.

If you’re looking for some money making ideas, look no further. This post will share the best way to invest $100, $1000, and $5000 right now.

These “investments” aren’t going to make you rich over night, those simply don’t exist. What I’m going to share with you is the best way to move forward with the money you have today.

What I’m going to tell you to do isn’t related to the stock market or real estate. It’s related to investing in YOURSELF and building an online business.

You might be thinking, “I hate reading” or “Why would I waste my time reading books”. I’m sorry to tell you, if this is your mindset you will never succeed in life.

If you take a look at all the millionaires and billionaires in the world, 90% of them read over 20 books per year. How many have you read this year?

If you want to be successful in business and life, you need to be gaining knowledge and developing the right mindset. If you don’t have the right mindset going into business YOU WILL FAIL.

I’m telling you this right now…

If you don’t like reading, listen to audiobooks. If you’re a visual person watch videos. I like to follow the 30/30/30 theory…

30 minutes of reading, 30 minutes of audio, and 30 minutes of motivation per day.

If you only have $1000 to invest right now I have the perfect solution for you. When I first started my online business I had $1700 in my bank. I had just quit my job, so I started my online business and quickly grew it to $3000+/month.

The great thing about this business is that it doesn’t require a lot of capital, and results can come quick. This is definitely the easiest and fastest way to make money online today.

What am I talking about?

Kindle publishing. What is kindle publishing? It’s basically getting people to write kindle ebooks for you and then you sell them on Amazon.

Let’s say you wanted to create a book on the Paleo Diet. All you need to do is find a writer (there’s thousands out there), tell them you want a book about the Paleo Diet, and they’ll take care of the rest. They will then send you the finished document, and you simply upload it to Amazon.

Simple as that.

To this date I have 50-60 kindle books bringing me in passive income each month. I didn’t write any of them, and Amazon does all of the selling.

Each book will cost around $80-$100 to make, so this will be perfect if you only have $1000 to invest.

How do you get started?

What you’re going to want to do is take a portion of that and get step-by-step training on how to do this. You can try to do this by yourself, but you’ll run through the $1000 quick and get nowhere.

Take a bit of it and get training that will walk you through the process and teach you what NOT to do. I can’t stress this enough.

I’ve spent thousands of dollars on training over the past year, and what I did was I took the best information from each course and turned it into my own training program called Self Publishing Assignment.

I’ve tried quite a few different ways to make money online and I can confidently say kindle publishing is the easiest and fastest way to get started.

How To Invest $5000 Right Now

If you have a bit more to invest ($5000-$10,000) you could start one of many different online businesses. If you’re new to making money online I’d narrow it down to the 2 following business models:

  • Kindle publishing
  • Affiliate marketing

We’ve already covered kindle publishing, but what about affiliate marketing?

Affiliate marketing is when you sell someone else’s product and you receive 50%+ commissions. Someone has already created the product, and all you have to do is send traffic to their offer.

Every time someone buys through your link, you receive a commission (minimum 50% of sale price). This is awesome because creating your own product takes a lot of time and effort. It makes complete sense to just sell another person’s product and receive 50%.

Affiliate marketing is becoming my favorite model and It will be a big source of my monthly income.

So affiliate marketing or kindle publishing?

Kindle is great if you’re new to making money online and have limited funds available. It is quick and relatively easy to get started (if you have the right training) but the only downside is that it’s hard to scale that business past $10k per month.

If that’s all you’re looking for then great, but if you want to go past that then affiliate marketing is where you want to be. What you could also do is use your kindle earnings to fund your affiliate business (that’s what I did).

There’s 2 different ways you can go with this…

The first is to promote different individual products. So let’s say you have a blog, YouTube channel, Facebook or Instagram page with a decent number of followers. You could find 3 or 4 different products (on Clickbank or JVZoo) that your audience might be interested in and recommend it to them.

Generally these products are $50-$200 and you’d receive 50% of that. With only $25-$100 per sale it would take a lot to make a decent income. This brings us to option 2.

Option 2 is finding a company that has a series of products that your audience would be interested in. Usually these companies have a wide range of products which can be anywhere from $10 all the way up to thousands of dollars.

Here’s why you want to get into this. Let’s say you refer someone who buys the $10 product. They go through that product and find value in it. 4 moths later they decide to buy the $10,000 product. You have just made $5000 from that.

See the power of that?

All you have to do is send people to the low cost product and if they decide to upgrade to the high ticket product, you will still receive the commission (with no extra work). You will get anything they buy for the entire lifetime of the customer.

I went with this company because the entire business, sales funnels, marketing, selling, and payroll is done for you and the system is flawless.

They have a range of products that teach you about creating an online business. And the awesome thing is that they give you the ability to become an affiliate and earn up to 54% commissions.

Summing Up

Whether you have $100, $1000, or $5000 to invest is all starts with investing in yourself first. No matter what business you want to get into, if you don’t have the right mindset you will fail.

Before you get started with kindle or affiliate marketing I highly suggest educating yourself first with the books I suggested above. Be sure to get a few of them and start growing yourself and not just your business.

What I Learned From The Pat Flynn Income Reports

Pat Flynn from Smart Passive Income is someone who I’ve been studying for the past couple weeks. His business model is one that I’d like to imitate, so I went back to the beginning and read all his income reports. He has shared all his income reports since the beginning (Late 2008) and has shared all his successes, failures, and lessons learned.

It’s important for us to look back at where he was when he started and what he wished he did differently. We can look at his successes and failures and see what doesn’t work. There’s no need to try something that doesn’t work. Pat has already tested a lot of different concepts so we can just model success.

In this post I’ll be sharing what I learned from reading all of his income reports. For anyone wanting to have the same business model as Pat, these lessons could be very useful. Let’s get started.

Focus, assess the situation and act accordingly.

It’s important to pause, step out of your business, and see what’s working and what’s not. This doesn’t need to be done everyday, but every month or two. If you don’t do this you might not see things that should be changed. You might not catch things that aren’t working and this can be harmful for your business. See what’s going right and keep doing it. See what’s not working, change your approach and adapt.

Know you’re right. Don’t care about what others say or think. Don’t doubt yourself. Know you’ll succeed.

It’s important to have confidence and have no doubt in your mind that you’ll succeed. You need to block out negativity from others and continue to move forward. Whether it’s your parents, partner, or friends, what they say doesn’t matter. Believe in yourself and constantly push forward.

Know and do what it takes. Research and implement right away.

Before you do something you should research it and fully understand what it’ll take to succeed. If you don’t you’ll run into unexpected problems and this will cause a lot of people to quit. Understand the process, constantly learn, and implement what you learn right away.

Don’t promote products you don”t know or use.

For people doing affiliate marketing, it’s important to only promote products that you understand and believe in. People won’t buy from you if you just tell them to buy a product. It needs to be something that you’ve used and benefited from.

Help the reader first. Don’t use money as the main motivator.

When you first start a blog or Youtube channel it’s important to think of the reader FIRST. Focusing on money instead of your reader will hurt you in the long run. You may get a few quick sales but this isn’t a good long term strategy. Focus on building your brand and relationships, then the money will come.

Work hard now so you can enjoy the benefits later.

The whole idea of passive income is to work hard at the start and create an asset. Once that asset is built it will require very little time on your part and will consistently make you money. Do this over and over and you’ll have a lot of success.

Go out of your way, over deliver to people and you’ll be rewarded.

Your main goal should be to provide your audience or customer with as much value as possible. You should give them way more value than they expect. Do this and they will turn into a lifetime customer. People won’t follow you or buy from you if don’t provide value so this is extremely important.

SEO is not everything.

If you’re building a niche site then SEO is pretty important but for people with a blog it should not be the main focus. Pat actually had very little of his traffic come from SEO at the start. The majority of his traffic was direct, meaning directly from content such as Youtube, podcasting, etc. Focus on creating good content and people will come if you provide enough value.

Don’t chase money.

Don’t hop from one thing to another. Focus on building a business and not chasing money. Chasing money will only work short term. From the very start, treat whatever you’re doing as a business.

Focus on the big 3 and outsource the rest.

In your business there are a lot of tasks that need to be done. A lot of these tasks are super repetitive and aren’t even worth spending time on. Most people focus too much on this part and don’t spend enough time on the big 3. Think of the 80/20 principle. 2 or 3 tasks will result in 80% of your businesses growth. The remaining tasks don’t require you so you need to outsource them. Here’s my big 3:

  1. Creating content.
  2. Creating systems and managing them.
  3. Learning and implementing new strategies.

What are your big 3? Think about it right now and start focusing on them instead of the stuff that doesn’t really matter.

How To Be A Successful Entrepreneur

I’ve recently been studying successful entrepreneurs and what sets them apart from everyone else. Why is it that some people are able to build multiple million dollar businesses and others can’t even make a hundred dollars? What I’ve found is that almost all successful entrepreneurs do similar things and have similar characteristics.

This obviously means that we should take notice. If we want to be successful we need to follow in their footsteps and take what they know and do and apply it to our businesses.

We can use their knowledge and avoid failing like they did. We can find out what works and what doesn’t. We can model success and cut the learning curve in half. This is why it’s so important to watch and analyze these successful people. Here are some of the common characteristics that these people have. Take a few of these and apply them to your life. Let’s get started…

Have the right mindset

Want to be successful? This is where it starts. If you want to be successful you need to have the right mindset. You need to think and act successfully. If you think you WON’T be successful then that’s exactly what will happen.

If you aren’t where you want to be at in your business or life then you need to change your mindset. I can guarantee you that if you do this you will see results. If you want to win, you have to think about winning. If you think you might lose, you probably will.

If you aren’t getting the results you want, you need to develop the right mindset. This means you’re missing something. Your mindset is missing that killer instinct, it’s missing the winning attitude. Tell yourself you can and you will.

Have the right why

One of the best books I’ve read is called Start With Why. This book was about finding you WHY in life. By finding your purpose, raising your standards, and having a mission, you will develop endless motivation and be more successful.

People don’t follow you because of what you do, they follow because of why you do what you do. In order to be successful, you need to know why you’re doing what you do. If you want to make more money, Why? If you want to travel the world, Why?

People end up giving up or losing because they don’t have the right why. They don’t really have a reason for wanting to do something. They just think that more money would be cool, but if they don’t know why they want more money, chances are they will fail. Find your why and develop a business around that.

Be relentless

You’ve probably heard the expression: “it isn’t about how hard you hit. It’s about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward; how much you can take and keep moving forward”. 

Business is full of ups and downs. You will have many successes and many failures. What makes you a good entrepreneur is how you bounce back after failure. You need to be relentless. No matter what gets in your way, you will continue pushing forward until you have success.

Successful people won’t be stopped. Nothing will get in their way and nothing will prevent them from achieving their goals. Don’t be afraid of failure. Learn from it and grow. You will know what not to do next time and you’ll be one step closer to success.

Be relentless in your life. Don’t let anyone tell you-you can’t do something. Don’t let anyone get in your way. Find where you want to go and commit to getting there, no matter what.

Focus on 1 area at a time

Don’t follow shiny object syndrome. This is a major reason most people aren’t successful in online business. There are so many different ways to make money, so people jump from one thing to another. They start one thing, try it for a bit, and then move on to something else. You CANNOT do this if you want to have success.

What I’ve found extremely useful for me is to stick with one thing for 4-6 months. In those months I learn everything I possibly can and apply what I learn. If I don’t see results after 4 months then I’ll move to something else. If I have results I set up a system to automate the process and then learn something new.

Too many people don’t focus their time on one goal and this is what causes them to fail. Every new idea of making money changes their focus and they never commit to one thing.

If you learn one thing from this let it be: “commit 100% of your time and focus on one goal for 4-6 months”.

Believe in yourself

Another thing I found common in successful people is that they believe in themselves 100%. They are full of confidence and they know they will be successful. There isn’t a doubt in their mind and they will make it work no matter what.

If you don’t believe that you can do something, how can you expect to succeed? The short answer is you won’t. If you want to win in life you need to believe in yourself and have a winning attitude.

Even if you do fail, it doesn’t matter. You will learn and grow from that. You will move forward because you are confident in your abilities and you know you’re one step closer to that success.

Be desperate

What would you do today if it was your last day? What would you do if your business would either live or die tomorrow and what you did today determined that? This is the way you need to run your business. Especially at the start, you need to live and breath your business.

You need to link pain to failure. You need to find something that drives you to be strong and relentless with your business. Pain is the ultimate motivator, so if you can link pain to failure, you will have endless motivation to get stuff done.

Think long term. Build a business. Don’t hustle

What’s very important is to treat whatever you’re doing like a business. Focus on building a long-term business rather than jumping from one thing to another. You don’t want to constantly be moving to what’s popular today and something different tomorrow. Focus on one thing, build it, master it, automate it, and then move on.

It doesn’t matter if you’re doing Kindle publishing, affiliate marketing, stocks, or E-commerce. You’ll have much more success if you treat it like a real business and focus long term.

Grow fast

What I’ve found extremely helpful is to grow your business quickly. This might not be the best thing for some businesses but I’ve had a lot of success doing this with my online businesses. Because I focus on creating different passive income streams, the quicker I can master and automate the process the better. For example, instead of spending a year mastering Kindle publishing, I found that I can grow a lot faster if I spend 6 months on just kindle and then 6 months on something else.

If you spend your time focusing on too many areas at one time it will take you a lot longer to grow. Spend your time on one thing, master it and then automate. I think this is the key to maximum growth.

Find what the people want and give it to them

If you want to fail in business, create something YOU think people will want. I’ve seen this too many times. People always think they have the best idea for a business. They spend time and money creating something and guess what? Nobody ends up buying it.

This is the quickest way to fail in business. By not doing the proper research you won’t even know if people will buy. Step 1 should be: find what people want and step 2 is: create the product or service. Doing this will prevent wasted time and money. By finding your buyers BEFORE you create the process, you will be setting yourself up for success. Do this and give them massive value and they will be a customer for life.

Master communication and persuasion

The most important skill an entrepreneur can have is copywriting and sales. If you aren’t able to sell, how do you expect to get customers? How will you be able to make any money? You can have the best product out there, but if nobody knows about if you won’t sell any. The saying: “Build it and they will come” is a complete myth.

A lot of people don’t like selling because they have a negative feeling towards it. People don’t want to be known as a sales person because society has negative assumptions about them. Nobody likes or wants to deal with a used cars salesman.

This is what we need to get away from. If you have a business you need to sell what you offer. You need to think that you are giving your customer value and without your product or service they won’t achieve what they want.

Continually grow and learn (especially mentors)

“If you’re not growing your dying”. Chances are you’ve heard this expression before. It basically means if you don’t grow yourself or your business you will end up dying off because someone else will come and take your place.

This is why I constantly read books and attend seminars. You need to learn new ideas and strategies and apply them to your business. This is the key to long-term success.

Build a team

If your business is growing fast you can’t expect to do it on your own. This is when you need to start building a team. You have to stop doing the little repetitive tasks that don’t add to your business. Your time is now worth a lot more than before and you can’t afford to spend your time on little tasks. You need to focus more ON your business and not IN it. You need to hire people to take care of these small tasks. This is how you leverage your time for maximum growth.

If you can outsource and automate a process for pennies, why wouldn’t you? It’s an absolute no-brainer. Spend your time on what actually matters and outsource the rest. You will see massive results from this.

How Do Some People Achieve Success So Quickly?

Have you ever wondered why some people seem to have massive success in a short period of time and others never get anywhere? Or how about when “less skilled” people end up succeeding far more than someone who is qualified? This happens every single day and there is a specific reason why this happens. It’s just like when the smart kid in high school ends up working for the kid who got C’s. Most people would have thought that the smart kid was set to succeed in life, but IQ really has nothing to do with that.

You’ve probably heard of the people who go from zero to millions in only a couple years or people who built a business overnight. You might be thinking that this is complete BS, but it really does happen, and there’s a reason for it. I’ve recently become fascinated with how people are able to do this and I’ve found a lot of common traits. It seemed that almost all people who have had success in life had one or more of these following characteristics. Let’s get into it:

They Had The Right Mindset

The number 1 most important thing that you NEED to do is develop the right mindset. This should be your number 1 focus when you’re first starting out with your career. I’ve spent a lot of time developing my mindset and it has made life so much easier for me. I’ve read books, gone through courses, and attended seminars and I’m so glad I did.

I noticed that almost all successful people had the same mindset. They were always in a positive state and had clear goals set for themselves. They were motivated and knew ahead of time that whatever they were doing was going to work. If it didn’t work they would find out why and adjust. All while moving in the same forward direction toward their goals.

When I was first starting out and working on my mindset I came across 2 awesome resources that I highly recommend. The first thing is books by Tony Robbins. I read everything I could about him and what he’s put out. I learned how important is was the be in a positive state and remove all negativity from my life. The second resource was a course called The 67 Steps. It is by a guy called Tai Lopez and it’s basically 67 steps to take to improve your life, mindset, and live the good life. I highly recommend both these resources.

They Had A Mentor Or Coaching Program

The second thing that I found very common is successful people had either a mentor or went through a coaching program. I 100% agree with this and I tell people all the time to do this. This is very powerful because it allows you to cut the learning curve in half. You learn exactly what works and what doesn’t through others experience. You don’t have to waste time with trial and error. Other people have already done that, so what we want to do is take what they already know and model success. This is the fastest way to be successful. There’s no need to reinvent the wheel.

People always say to me that they don’t want to pay for a course or coach. Do you really not value yourself high enough to invest in yourself? If you’re not willing to invest in yourself and learn, you will not be successful.

Simple as that. If you don’t want to invest a couple hundred bucks in learning something, I really feel sorry for you. I guarantee that if you try it for yourself you will end up wasting that couple hundred anyway and also months of your time. This is why I always tell people to take a course if they want to know about mindset, Kindle publishing, or whatever it is.

I found that people also tend to take more action when they have some “skin in the game”, meaning they have paid money from out of pocket. If they don’t take action they just lost money. This will force people to follow through and apply what they learn. 90% of the time I teach people for free they don’t take action. I highly recommend you throw some of your own money on the table as motivation.

They Had The Drive To Succeed

The next thing that all successful people have is that never ending drive to get whatever needs to be done, done. These people won’t stop until they have won. No matter what gets in their way, they will find a way to pull through in the end. These people are either going to succeed or die trying. People like Gary Vaynerchuk who work 80 hours a week because he has the drive and loves what he does.

You probably know at least 1 person who is always talking about what they’re going to do but never end up doing it. Most likely this is because they don’t have the drive or motivation. Don’t let this be you. Just remember that if you want to be successful, you’re going to have to put in the work.

They Learn And Take Action

Knowledge is not power. Knowledge is only potential power. Action is power. Anthony Robbins

How many times do you hear people talking about things they know but have no experience doing it? For me, it’s almost every day. People are always telling others what they “should” be doing but in reality, they haven’t even done it themselves. Knowing everything and having knowledge means NOTHING. What matters is applying that knowledge to your life or business. I could know everything about the Paleo diet but if I’ve never done it am I really an expert?

When I first started reading a lot of books I was just focused on reading and learning everything I possibly could. I soon realized that I was pretty much wasting a lot of my time. I was learning but I didn’t take the time to apply it. It came to a point when I was in information overload. I had so much going on in my head and I couldn’t think straight. My life drastically changed when I started implementing everything that I was reading about. Don’t just read to learn, read to learn and then apply.

They Commit For The Long Term

So many people are looking for the fast, get rich quick thing. I’m sorry to say this but that just doesn’t exist. There is no such thing as getting rich quick, and I want to get people out of that mindset. People want to make more money but very few will actually put in the time and effort to go get it. They are short sighted. They want the money NOW and they don’t expect to work for it. This is the wrong approach. Successful people ALWAYS plan for the long term and are willing to put in the time.

Short sighted things may work for a bit but you won’t be successful long term. No matter what you’re working towards, commit and plan for the long term, put in the time and effort, and you will become one of those successful people.

They Embrace Failure

Are you afraid of failing? I’m not. I actually welcome failure because I’m one step closer to success and I now know what NOT to do. If you never fail, how can you possibly learn? The sooner you fail, the sooner you learn, and the sooner you can find what works.

If you absolutely don’t want to fail, the only way you can do that is by learning from others who have. Pay them for coaching or buy their course and find a proven strategy. Again, I recommend everyone do this. Don’t expect people to teach your for free.

They Have Clear Goals

When I started publicly stating my goals in my Goal Report, I started noticing a lot better results. I not only was motivated to finish my goal, but I also had a clear direction of where I needed to go. I knew what I had to work towards and this kept me moving forward. Each and every day I had an idea of what needed to be done and this was huge for me. Creating your own goals is a MUST and I highly recommend you set some for yourself.

If I didn’t have goals for myself I would be lost. I would get up in the morning and be reactive. This means that I have no plan and I’ll do whatever comes up. Being reactive is the productivity killer and I guarantee you will not get a thing done. Instead, you want to be proactive. This means that you have a set plan every day and know what you will be doing before the day starts. If you want to be more productive this is what you have to do. What They Do Motivates Them

If you don’t have the motivation to do whatever it is you want to do you should just give up now. I promise you will NEVER get to the end, so don’t waste your time. You need to find something that you’re actually motivated to do. If you’ve ever been at a job you didn’t like, you know how hard it was to get stuff done.

You need to love what you do. Life is too short to spend it doing something you don’t like. Find something you’re motivated to do and do it well. I can’t stress this enough. If you don’t like your job, take action and quit. If you want to start a business, stop thinking about it and do it. If you want to be successful, chase it.

It is definitely possible to achieve massive success in a short period of time. All it takes is the right mindset, a clear plan and strategy, and the ability to control your emotions. How To Set Goals And Accomplish Anything You Want In Life

Goal setting is one of the most powerful things you can do to be successful.

Setting goals gives you a long term direction in life and acts as short-term motivation. They allow you to grow as a person and make the most use of your time. Goals force you to get stuff done and I would be lost without them.

What I’ve realized over the past few months is that successful people set and achieve goals over the long term, and unsuccessful people don’t.

People often set goals at the beginning of the year but never end up working towards them because they either don’t know how, or they don’t set SMART goals.

I’m going to share with you my way of setting goals the right way and how they’ve helped me.

How To Come Up With Smart Goals

What are SMART goals?

Smart goals are goals which are the following:

  1. Specific
  2. Attainable
  3. Measurable
  4. Relevant
  5. Have a timeframe

The goals you set for yourself need to follow these criteria. Otherwise, you’ll lose interest and never attempt to achieve them. The reason most people don’t achieve their goals is that they set goals that don’t follow at least 1 of these criteria.

Specific Goals

Your goals need to be very specific. They need to have concrete numbers and deadlines.

Just like in business, you won’t be successful if your business is too broad. For example, if you have an online store selling sports equipment you wouldn’t sell garden tools, right?

Here’s an example of a bad goal: “I want to make more money”.

Is your goal achieved if you make $10 more than last month?

Instead, your goal should look something like this: “I will make $1000 more next month than I did this month”.

See how this is way more specific than the first one?

Attainable Goals

Next, your goals need to be attainable. This means that they are realistic and you have a high probability of achieving them.

If I made $50,000 last year and I set a goal to make $1,000,000 this year is that realistic? No.

Make sure that your goals are attainable so that you can stay motivated and constantly moving forward.

Measurable Goals

Measurable goals are when you can actually see your progress and results.

Going back to the “more money” example, how can you measure something that doesn’t have an actual number?

You need to be able to measure your progress each month, so make sure your goals have measurable units.

Relevant Goals

Goals must be relevant to what you’re currently working towards.

How could you ever be motivated to achieve a goal that in unrelated to anything you’re doing.

When setting relevant goals you would want to pick ones that move you in the direction you want to go. All your goals should position you to grow and move towards your ultimate end goal.

Have A Timeframe

Another important thing is to make sure your goals have a deadline.

What’s the point in having goals with no end date?

This is what the majority of people do and this is why they end up failing. You will never stay motivated. You will tell yourself, “I’ll get to it tomorrow, or next week, or next month”.

This goes on and on until the goal disappears.

This is why you NEED to have a deadline and it works even better if you publicly state them.

At the beginning of each year, I’ll lay out everything that I want to accomplish over the next 12 months. All these goals must meet the previous criteria and I publicly state them. I then break these goals down into quarters. At the beginning of each quarter, I set my 3-month goals, which are all relevant to my yearly goals.

I’m constantly coming up with new goals throughout the year and this is completely fine. Each month I review and reflect and see how my progress is coming. You can see my goal report here.

Goal Setting Process

My goal setting process has 2 parts. Long term and short term. My long term goals are 5-10 years from now. It’s what I’m ultimately working towards. My short term goals are usually under 1 year. They are smaller versions of my ultimate end goal. If my long term goal is to make $1,000,000 per year, my short term will start with $50,000 and slowly work up. By setting achievable goals it keeps me motivated to stay course and work towards the big one.

I set goals for every aspect of my life. I want to make sure I’m growing and developing all skills which will help me become a better person. I set goals based on:

  • Business
  • Finance
  • Personal
  • Health
  • Emotional

I then come up with a list of goals that I want to achieve based on these 5 categories and put a timeframe beside each. Then I’ll pick the ones I want to achieve over the next 12 months, then I’ll break it down into quarters.

Each quarter I like to review and reflect on my goals. Here’s what I like to find out:

  • What worked?
  • What didn’t?
  • What did I learn?
  • Looking forward.

Just remember that you want to set big long term goals and then break it down into yearly and quarterly goals. Slowly chip away and achieve the small goals to stay motivated.

How To Accomplish Your Goals

The number 1 thing that you MUST do is to actually know and understand your goals.

You should have written them down and publicly stated them or told a close friend.

You should be able to quickly explain your goals to people at any time.

Know your goals inside and out.

Now, you’ll want to reflect on your progress over time. I do this every 2 months to make sure I’m still going in the right direction, and make any necessary adjustments.

Here are 4 to-do’s to accomplish your goals

  1. Set Smart Goals

Make sure your goals follow the criteria of being “SMART”. Your goals must be specific, measurable, attainable, relevant, and timely. If your goals aren’t smart then it will be very hard to accomplish them.

2. Break Goals Down

Goals are not achieved by going from 0-1,000,000. They are achieved over the long term. The way to stay motivated and constantly moving in the right direction is to break these goals down into shorter time periods. Once your goals are broken down you can easily see what you need to do to get to your end goal.

3. Set Reflection Periods

It is very important to reflect on your progress and make sure you’re still heading in the right direction. You need to look back and see what’s not working and what needs to be done to move forward. I like to do this at the beginning of each quarter.

4. Hold Yourself Accountable

How many times have you told yourself that you’ll do something but never end up doing it? My guess would be a lot. This happens to the majority of people who set goals. They never actually end up making progress or don’t stick with it. You must hold yourself accountable in some way. You can give money to a friend of yours and tell them to not give it back if you don’t achieve the goal. I like to publicly state my goals because the embarrassment of failing is far more painful.

One program I really enjoyed is called The 100 Day Challenge. It’s an online program that teaches you how to achieve your goal in record time. I really enjoyed this course because it gives you 100 days to achieve your goal. This keeps you motivated and holds you accountable, which is a must for actually coming through and getting stuff done.

How To Make More Money In Any Business

“How Do I Make More Money”?

I get asked this question all the time and the majority of people out there ask themselves the same thing.

I hear this from entrepreneurs, business owners, investors and employees. They all want to make more money and the way to do that is pretty simple.

When someone asks me how to make more money I respond with: “what value are you currently bringing to you work or business“?

Often times people won’t be able to respond with much because they aren’t providing much value at all.

How can you expect to make more money if you’re not providing any value to people?

My answer to this question is simple. If you want to make more money, you have to provide more value.

Simple as that.

If you want to make more money at your job you’ll have to bring more value to your company. Bring more value to your team. Help your company make more money and you will receive more money.

For business owners, provide more value to your customer. The more value you provide them, the more they will return the favor.

If you have a Ecommerce store, provide more value than your competition. People will appreciate this and will buy from you over them.

How Can I Provide More Value?

Before you can bring value to others, you have to learn valuable things. How could you possibly help others if you don’t know much yourself?

This is what really frustrates me. People are not prepared to learn new skills that will help them and others around them. They then just expect to earn more. This is when people satisfied with their life and just give up because nothing seems to work.

I ask them if they’ve provide any extra value to people, and the answer is usually “no“.

IF YOU WANT TO MAKE MORE MONEY, invest in yourself FIRST to learn how to bring more to the table.

You should be constantly learning new things and growing as a person. The more knowledge you have the more value you can provide.

Read books, listen to what people need and then give it to them. That is how you will make more money.

I’m always looking for new ways to bring value to people. I know that if I want to make more I’ll have to provide more. That is why I constantly read books, go to seminars, and do everything I possibly can to help people out.

Improving myself is my top priority right now. I feel like I’ve really grown over the past couple years and this is because I’m constantly improving and growing.

Do this for yourself and you’ll thank me later. Years from now you’ll look back and thankful that you invested in yourself. You will see results for the rest of your life.

If you remember one thing from this it should be this: “Grow yourself first, provide value to others, THEN the money will come“.

My Morning Routine – How To Be More Productive And Live Life To Its Fullest

Simply have a better morning routine.

Creating a morning routine has changed my life and I owe a lot of success to it. It has allowed me to get a tone more done, feel more energized, and live a more fulfilling life.

Check out my morning routine below and use a few of these steps in your own life. You won’t be disappointed. I can guarantee that you will have a lot more success.

My 8 Part Morning Routine

 Below is my 8 part morning routine that I do at least 4x per week. I do this same routine every single Monday – Thursday and sometimes even 7 days per week. This routine takes about an hour. 

I know that a lot of people aren’t able to spend an hour per day doing my entire routine but that doesn’t matter. Having a ten minute routine is perfectly fine and you will see results from it.

Time is not the most important thing here. All that matters is being consistent with your routine.

Let’s get started.

1. Listen To Music Right Away

This is a very important part of my morning routine because this is what gets me motivated and in a positive state as soon as I get up.

By starting your day in a positive state and motivated to get stuff done, I can guarantee you that your day will be much more fulfilling and productive.

Getting pumped up in the morning and being in a positive mood will not only help you get more done but it will also show in your work. The work that you put out will be ten times better because YOU will feel better and this will allow your audience to get more from you. 

2. Drink 500mL Lemon Water

As soon as I wake up I’ll drink 500mL of lemon water to get my body going. I make this the night before and it’s beside my bed ready to go for when I wake up. When you wake up your body is dehydrated so this is very important.

I never miss this step because as soon as I drink the water I instantly feel alert and ready to take on the day. The lemon water helps boost the immune system and gets the brain going. This is my version of coffee.

3. Stretch And Move The Body

Now that I’m motivated to get going and my brain is alert, the next thing I do is get my body moving and stretched out. I enjoy doing this because it instantly puts me in a positive state and this is important to me.

This also helps increase energy because it gets the blood flowing and puts oxygen into your system. Ever feel sluggish when you wake up? This will instantly get rid of that.

This doesn’t mean an intense workout or a 10 mile run. All I do here is 5-10 minutes of Kettle Bell Swings to get the blood flowing. You can check out what I use here.

Anything from a quick walk to a couple minutes of jumping jacks will work just fine.

4. Drink A Morning Juice/Shake

After a quick workout I’ll make a nutrition shake or juice using fruits and vegetables with my Omega Juicer.

It’s important to get 30 grams of protein in your body within 30 minutes or getting up so what I normally do is combine the homemade juice with protein powder, flax seeds and chia seeds. This gives me everything I need to get my body energized and ready to go.

I put all of these into my Vitamix Blender and this is my breakfast. I also take some supplements with breakfast. Here’s what I take:

Optimum Nutrition Fish Oil


5. Read A Book

My next step is to sit and read while I drink my nutrition shake. All I do here is spend 15-20 minutes reading and this helps get the mind going. You don’t need to spend hours a day reading. 15-20 minutes each day will do the job.

I believe in learning something new every single day and reading helps do that. It has become a big part of my life and I credit a lot of success to it. For the past year I’ve consistently read at least 1 book per month.

6. Plan My Day

Now that I’m in my optimal state I’ll then plan out my day. This is basically what I want to get done and how much time I’ll allocate to each task. This allows me to be in a Proactive state and not a Reactive state, which I learned from Tony Robbins.

Physically writing out what you want to get done will be a huge benefit to you because it gives yourself something to work towards. Otherwise you’ll just end up procrastinating and get nothing done.

I also do this for my goals each year, quarter and month. I like to know what I have to get done and I like the motivation it gives me.

7. Take Action

As soon as I finish my To Do list I’ll go right into taking action. I normally start with the task that is the most important and most time consuming. I do this because this is when I’m the most motivated and I know that if I get this one task done I’ll know I actually made progress today.

For this first task I normally will sit and power through it non stop. I don’t want to take any breaks while I’m doing this because I don’t want to get distracted.

Just remember that taking action is 90% of the battle. Take action on one task each day and your life will dramatically change for the better.

8. Take A Break And Move Again

After that first task is done I like to get up and move around again. Sometimes I can be sitting for 3-4 hours and I’ll start to feel sluggish so this is when I repeat the same process as before.

Sometimes I’ll go for a walk or go play basketball for a bit. It doesn’t matter what you do. All that matters is you get the blood flowing again.

That’s it. After these 8 simple steps you’ll already have completed an important task before lunch. Now you’ll feel energized and motivated to crush the next task. Consistently repeat these steps each week and there will be nothing you won’t accomplish.


Create Your Morning Routine

Now it’s time to create your own morning routine. My routine isn’t for everyone because you might not have the same schedule but you should definitely follow the first couple steps.

No matter what your morning routine is, the important thing is to do it CONSISTENTLY.

Make sure you create your routine so that it can be done at least 3-4 times per week. Make sure it works with your schedule otherwise you won’t do it.

Start with something small and simple. Maybe something that takes 5-10 minutes and then slowly improve and increase the time. A longer routine isn’t necessarily better. Stick with what you can do and do it consistently.
