In this post, we’re gonna talk about how to write your very own book and publish it on Amazon, completely free.
This is the first business I got started with and was what helped me quit my job and make a full-time income online.
There are 2 different reasons for publishing a book on Amazon:
- It creates an income stream.
- It’s one of the best things to build your brand.
If you don’t have a business already, it’s probably the fastest way to start making money online.
If you’re just doing this as your only way to make money, focus on starting a brand that uses publishing as one of many income streams.
This is the one big mistake I made…
I published in different niches and never focused on building a BRAND in ONE niche.
Instead of publishing computer books, health books, fiction books, I should have focused on one, built a blog and YouTube channel, and come out with my own products.
Start with publishing but expand out over time.
If you have a business, it’s one of the best ways to establish yourself as the authority.
Doesn’t matter if you’re building a fitness YouTube channel, survival blog, or Amazon product, you’ll want to have your own book out there.
And the best thing is it only takes a few days to write yourself or pay someone else to.
Alright, so how do you get started?
Step #1 is to decide on your topic.
If you’re building a business already, you know the topic.
If you’re just starting, write down 3 things you’re passionate about, look to see if there are books already selling in that niche, and pick the one that looks most profitable.
Step #2 is to find a profitable keyword.
Just because you have your topic doesn’t mean it’ll be a success…
You need to find a keyword that’s searched for a lot and has low competition.
Think about what someone interested in buying your book might type into Amazon.
Start typing that into the search bar and see what suggestions come up.
Click on the first one and make sure the top 3 books have best sellers rank under 100,000 and there are 5+ books on the first page that have 50 reviews or less.
If it doesn’t have both, move onto the next keyword.
If it has both, that will be the title of your book.
Step #3 is to write your book and design your cover.
You can write the book yourself or pay someone on Upwork $100-150 to write your 8000+ word book.
Write down 8-10 main topics you want to cover in the book (chapters) and write down 3-5 key points you want to cover within each chapter.
Then start writing.
Pay someone on Fiverr to design your cover for $5.
Step #4 is to create your Kindle Direct Publishing account.
Put in your personal info and click add a new book.
For your title, make something that includes the keyword you found in step #2.
Put your description and categories.
For your 7 keywords, do the same process as in step #2 to find 7 additional search terms.
Upload your book file (Word doc) and cover (jpg).
Set your price to $0.99 and click publish.
Step #5 is to promote your book and get reviews.
The first 7 days are super important for your book.
The more reviews and sales you get the better.
If you get none your book will end up on page 17.
I’d recommend asking friends and family to buy and review the book.
I’d also recommend running Amazon PPC as much as you can.
Step #6 is to turn your book into a paperback and audiobook.
Use Createspace to turn into paperback and ACX to turn into an audiobook.
That’s pretty much it.
The more promotion you do and the more reviews you get the better.
Once your book is ranked for its main search term, up the price.
